A good news update on Huck!!

Thank you to everyone for all your support and donations to Hucklebuck's medical expenses. Huck saw an internal medicine specialist and radiologist yesterday at VSH. They reviewed the progression of Huck's condition over the past couple of
months and did a thorough exam as well as additional scans of his lungs.

Good news! Luckily, they don't believe that it is necessary to remove any portions of Huck's left lung. This is wonderful news for the little boy, who has already been through a lot since he came to AC&A in June.

They do believe that the collapse of his left lung is permanent. It is likely that either a chronic disease in that lung as a kitten caused this, or that his lung failed to ever develop properly. They also are confident the original coughing that prompted us to take Huck in for care in July was due to pneumonia. However, they don't anticipate that the change in his thoracic cavity will cause any problems in the future. Currently, he is being treated for an upper respiratory infection, but we hope that it will resolve soon.

In the words of Huck's vet at VSH, as long as his right lung stays healthy, 'Huck should wreak havoc for many years to come'. :)

Thank you all for your donations, which have aided AC&A in the costs for Hucklebuck to see these specialists and all of his radiographs, medications, etc. over the past 2 months. We have lots of kitties that have needed medical care this year, and every little bit helps tremendously. We strive to provide the best medical care possible.

We appreciate you, and the kitties do too!!
